Common antibiotics linked to sudden death with ACE inhibitors, ARBs
KEY POINT
Results from a large, nested, case-control study suggest that the risk of sudden death is increased in older patients treated with an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) who received trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (TMP–SMX) or ciprofloxacin.
