AHRQ releases summary on agents used to prevent nephropathy associated with I.V. contrast media

KEY POINT

Evidence supporting the addition of N-acetylcysteine to I.V. saline for reducing the risk of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is limited, with small and clinically unimportant benefits seen when this combination is compared with I.V. saline alone, according to a comparative effectiveness review released by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
