The APhA Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science (APhA-APRS) stimulates the discovery, dissemination and application of research to improve patient health and serves pharmacists and those members who are involved in the pharmaceutical sciences.

APhA-APRS Awards
APhA is seeking nominations for the awards and honors program. APhA-APRS members can be considered for the following awards:
- Fellows of the American Pharmacists Association
- Takeru Higuchi Research Prize
*Recognized no more than once every 3 years. Nominations process open in 2017 for 2018 recipient - Ebert Prize
- Research Achievement Award in the Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Wiederholt Prize for Best Published Paper Award for Economic, Social, and Administrative Sciences
- Clinical Research Paper Award
- Postgraduate Best Paper Award

Are you interested in the basic sciences, clinical sciences, or the economic, social, and administrative sciences? Join your fellow researchers and scientists today in the APhA-APRS online community on APhA Engage. Take full advantage of our interactive community platform! Follow these steps:
- Login on pharmacist.com with your username and password.
- Click on "My Account".
- Select "Academies, Sections, and SIGs" on the left side of the page.
- Click on "Edit" on the right-hand side of the page.
- Under "Primary Academy", select "APhA-APRS".
- Under " APhA-APRS Special Interest Groups (APhA-APRS SIGs)", check your primary sections of interest.
- Once the above steps have been completed, visit APhA Engage at http://engage.pharmacist.com and JOIN your chosen SIG community(s) in APhA Engage.

The National Governors Association recently released The Expanding Role of Pharmacists in a Transformed Health Care System. This report highlights how states can better integrate pharmacists into the health care system and is one more confirmation of the profession’s role in addressing the health care needs of patients.

The APhA-APRS Postgraduate Advisory Committee provides services to graduate students, residents, fellows, postdoctoral scholars. The goals of the Postgraduate Initiative are to promote scientific research among peers, to increase communication and interaction among postgraduate members, and to establish collaborative relations between members and leaders. Meet the APhA Science Officer
The APhA Science Officer is charged with prioritizing and coordinating the Association’s response to emerging and important scientific issues and assists in developing the Association’s official position on scientific, regulatory, and therapeutic issues. Patrick G. Clay, PharmD, FCCP, CCTI, is Professor of Pharmacotherapy at University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy and is a member of APhA-APRS Clinical Sciences Section. pclay@aphanet.org
